Meet Craig
Black and Masters Squads
When I’m not poolside I enjoy time with the family and going abroad to sunnier climates or on the golf course.
What is your fastest 100m time?
If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If you could only wear one colour for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Do you have any hidden talents?
None 😔
I started swimming with Cardenden ASC when I was 5 and moved to Glenrothes ASC when I was 12. I enjoyed swim success at District, Scottish and British levels coached by Eddie Campbell. I returned to the sport when I was 25 as a masters swimmer and competed at Scottish, British and world championships.
I began coaching when my children started to swim with a club. I had swam as a junior / masters swimmer and I wanted to share my knowledge to help swimmers progress. I have been coaching for 7 years.
If I could give one piece of advice to new swimmers, it would it be:
Consistency over perfection. Swimmers must train regular to build up swim fitness and develop skills.
If I could swim alongside any famous swimmer it would be Denis Pankratov - a pioneer of underwater work on butterfly.
What sets GASC apart from other swimming clubs? The swimmers - they show great commitment and dedication. There is also a good team spirit within the squads.
The group of volunteers that help run the club are extremely dedicated, both those part of the poolside team and those on the committee. Also, others that play a vital role within the club.
